Classism
Hi everybody, So, in this piece, I (Lucas), am going to be talking about classism. Some of you may ask “What is classism”? Basically, classism is where the “Upper Class” keeps most of the world’s money. About 90% of the WORLD'S money belongs to them! It’s crazy, it means that people like me (middle class citizens) have 10% of the worlds money to use. All of these famous billionaires like, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg etc, are hoarding 90% of the worlds money for one percent of the population in the entire world. Below is a picture showing and describing what our world is.

So, if you look in the pictures above you see three different paragraph, lines or separations. If you look you'll see that there are three different categories. The first one is upper-class the second one is, middle-class and the third one is lower class. Each one has different classification and needs, the upper-class has 90% of the world's money to 3% of the world's population. This means that 90% of the world's money is being used but only 3% of the world's population. These people are very famous people such as Mark Zuckerberg (creator of Facebook) and Donald Trump. This also means that the other 99% of the world’s population have only 10% of the world's money.
Many examples of this are in communism. Communism is basically making the government in full control of everything you own, yet, you do not own anything else, but, the world at its current state is a sign that we are not ready for communism yet. There are many ideas of communism behind the economic state. In our current state we have as I said, three current states. One being the rich ones. Billionaires, people like Donald Trump, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates Etc. The second being most likely you and me. We are where everyone should be around. The third is the low class.
The third class is where a lot of people are. This is where we should be focusing our economic resources to this level or amount of people that need our help. Here is a quote from a wise professor. “In order to get something, you need to give something.” Anonymous, Economics Professor McGill University. This person basically is saying that in order to get something such as equity or equality (http://equitythroughanelementaryeye.blogspot.ca/2018/05/equality-vs-equity.html) you have to give up your money, or your reputation for being such a rich person. “I will not part with a single coin!” Thorin Oakenshield The Hobbit. This is what many of these millionaires or billionaires are like. They will not part with any amount of their fortune. Some rich people like Paul McCartney have given huge and generous donations to many charitable causes.

With one million from when you are twenty, it will last until you are Sixty. So, 1 million vs. 1 billion. Even still we all know which amount we are going to want. It doesn't matter what purpose you want it for. You are still are a billionaire. In The Hobbit, Balin, one of the dwarves talks about how fortunes and gold can be a sickness, “drive him mad”
Smaug the Dragon, The Hobbit. Gold is a dangerous tool, whether being used for good or for bad. Tamed or untamed, it is dangerous. It can be powerful when used to the right purpose. But, so very few of us can keep a straight head when having huge amounts of money in your hands, at your disposal.
So, back to the equity vs. equality, communism is based on this. Let’s have a scenario for us to be placed in. We are back when communism was happening in Russia. We are Jewish, we own nothing. We have nothing, this is where problems come into effect. Some being as “How are we going to manage?” The government might not get enough money, resources Etc. Remember the government controls/owns everything. The problems behind this are complicated. So not right now, but communism has many ideas and similarities behind this. If this (not communism) were to happen such as equity, we would be in a much better state that we are right now. Think, think, if the government were to take all of your economic wealth and disperse them equally among your entire country. But, this would not only happen to you. No no, this would happen to your city, province, country and finally world. This would be a huge disaster but also good. No more rich, no more poor. So many pros and cons.
But, either way, I hope that this has showed you a lot about classism and why it can be good and bad.
